Not all layoff numbers have been made publicly available, but Africa's layoffs are still a fraction of the globe.
Insights from global data (Layoffs.fyi):
• 79% of Dutch layoffs come from Philips (10k layoffs)
• 911 recorded company layoffs in US
• 91 recorded company layoffs in IndiaMethod and source of data:
• All data pulled from Layoffs.fyi (except for 54Gene, Naspers, Luno, Yoco, Yoyo, & Chipper Cash). Dara may be skewed more towards US than other regions
• There are blanks where layoff data not publicly available - ‘Red % laid off datapoint’ or ‘# employees laid off datapoint’ (inside company circle)
• Many companies are global so layoffs will be across employees from multiple countries (e.g. UK & SA for Luno)

Yoco percentage decrease is from LinkedIn 6 month headcount growth

Yazi did this visual for an edition of The Open Letter, which also looks at employee headcount from LinkedIn data.
